Can I transfer an existing domain name
to Hoster.com?
If you place an order online or you call us at 888-WWW-SPACE, make sure
to tell us that you are transferring an existing domain name.
During the time it takes for the Internic to move the domain
name, Hoster.com will provide you with a temporary address
to use (an example would look like http://165.254.118.51/yourcompanyname).
You can use this time to copy all of the material from your
old site into your new Hoster.com location. Once the transfer
is completed, it will take at least 2 days for the new domain
name to propagate through the Internet, and for the change
to take effect. You will need to contact the old host and
tell them to remove your name from their site. You will only
be able to access your domain name when they remove your entry
from their computer system

When will I be able to reach my site
using the domain name?
It will take up to a week before your domain is activated once InterNIC
announces that your domain name has been registered. All Internet
providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect
new site locations. This is called propagation. Total turnaround
on a new domain name is typically 3-5 business days. Please
note that domain transfers usually take longer than registering
a new domain. This is due to the fact that the current administrative
or technical contact for the domain must acknowledge the transfer
request. Delays can also occur when your current provider
does not approve the transfer request from InterNIC.

How long does it take for a new Domain
Name to register or move?
The Internic usually takes anywhere between 2-3 days to complete the
registration process for a domain name. It can take an additional
2 weeks for users around the Internet to see the domain name,
since it takes time for all the systems around the world to
list your name in their routing tables. In the meantime, Hoster.com
will provide you with an IP address so you can get to your
site and begin to build it in time for when the domain name
registration is completed.
